Having a little confusion about the time period of the ship route 
vs time period of available data/charts. Under 'ideal' conditions, 
it will take the ship 56hrs to get to port (straight line), but we 
are only given data/charts for 36hrs. How are we supposed to determine 
what conditions our ship will encounter after 36hrs?

Recall that the ship and the mid-latitude cyclone are likely headed
in opposite directions. The time of direct interaction between the two
entities should be much less than 56 hours. For the period after
direct interaction, you can assume "quiet" conditions, consistent with
the quiet conditions you observe at the 1000 hPa level at the initial
time. Be careful to be correct in the wind direction given the ship's
position relative to the departing storm.
