Question #3 ----------- We are attempting to calculate wind speed at the boat. Lets say the boat is a fair distance away from the center of the low. Hypothetically, could calculating the wind speed using components lead to large error in wind speed calculations? For instance maybe the low isn't affecting the boat at time Po? If this is the case how would we, more accurately, calculate the wind speed using components. Is it possible for the distance between the low and the boat to be too great a distance to accurately calculate wind speed using low position? Answer to #3 ------------ You are correct that the cyclone will have little influence on the winds observed at the boat once it is some distance away from the cyclone center. This is an example where the cyclone case study of Project #9 might help to answer your question. It also may allow you to make assumption(s) that can be used having a scientific basis (good methodology) to help in deciding when the cyclone is actually having an impact on the winds at the boat position. ---> There is no limit to the number of questions asked on the final project...the only limit is that you have until noon on Wednesday, November 28 to ask questions.
