Question -------- You want us to convert from 1000 hPa GRVT into a 1000 hPa geopotential height tendency (GHT). Is that as simple as using the proportion you gave us in LP#6 about negative GHT being the same as GRVT? Also, to figure out Z at 1000, do you multiply GHT by 21600 seconds and then divide by gravity? Answer ------ The geopotential height tendency is proportional to the negative of GRVT. You can "tune" the exact relationship by using the Project #9 case study to calibrate a proportionality constant between GHT and GRVT. Geopotential height is plotted on the GARP-derived maps, so you don't have to go to the trouble of dividing by gravity. The constant of proportionality will force the units to cancel properly.
