Increasing the Utilization of Weather Data for Safety Applications and Traveler Information

Map of Historical Data Sources

Hourly historical observations are available for 238 Integrated Surface Database (ISD) locations (yellow markers) in and near North Carolina. North American Regional Reanalysis (NARR) data also provide certain variables on a regular grid (red markers). Click on each marker to display the station name and ID number. Observing stations are named by combining the WBAN and USAF station IDs with an underscore (e.g., 03812_723150 is the Asheville Regional Airport). NARR grid points are named by combining the latitude and longitude coordinates (e.g., 35.375-82.417 is the grid point at 35.375°N, 82.417°W). It may be easier to view the map in a new window.
