The NC ECONet tower on campus now measures air temperature at both 2 meters and 9 meters.

The 10-m meteorological tower on campus is now part of the NC ECONet! Measurements include temperature, relative humidity, pressure, precipitation, wind speed at 5 levels, wind direction at 2 levels, solar radiation, soil temperature, soil moisture, leaf wetness, and photosynthetically active radiation.

Rachel Dunn is this year's recipient of the Kate Sweely Endowed Scholarship award. The scholarship is given in honor of Kate Sweely, an atmospheric sciences student at UNC Asheville who valued the pursuit of knowledge related to the weather as a way to get to know more about her Creator. The scholarship is made possible by a generous grant from Kate's parents, Dr. H. Douglas Sweely and Mrs. Lori Crum-Sweely, along with other generous donations from Kate's extended family and friends.
