HW 113

Racquetball (1 credit hour)

Racquetball is a fantastic game of speed, quickness, and power - if it is played safely. Top players can hit balls that reach speeds of 180 mph or more. This class will not teach you how to do that. But we all have to begin somewhere. We will learn the rules of the game, how to play it safely, and the basics of shot selection, stroke mechanics, court positioning, and tactics. Students who complete this course may sign up for the intermediate class, where you will learn more advanced shots and strategies.

All participants must have the required safety equipment. This includes a racquet with a grip and drawstring (to keep the racquet from flying off your hand), glove (at least 2 or 3 so you can change when wet), non-marking court/tennis shoes, and approved eyeguards. Students will not be allowed to participate without any one of these.
