Comparison of Polarimetric Radar Variables from Observed and Modified Drop Size Distributions

The following plots show polarimetric variables derived from the observed and corrected drop size distributions from the NSSL 2-D video disdrometer. Black lines show the observed variables. Blue lines show "model uncorrected" variables. In this case, "model uncorrected" refers to the drop size distribution derived from the observed number of drops measured by the disdrometer, but the flux is computed using theoretical rather than observed terminal velocities. Ideally, blue lines should coincide with the black lines. Red lines show polarimetric variables after the drop size distribution is corrected. In each case, observed variables are omitted from the top plot for clarity.
