UNCA Chapter of the AMS

The UNCA Chapter of the AMS (American Meteorological Society) is currently in its 20th year of providing the resources necessary to foster the growth of the field of Atmospheric Sciences and enhance the learning abilities by our members of the intricate workings of the atmosphere.  Since James Ivan Rasor II's signature was placed on the first constitution of the UNCA AMS on March 11, 1986, these goals have been accomplished with the efforts of the many prominent speakers from around the world who have given presentations at our meetings on a wide array of subjects ranging from aviation meteorology and global weather patterns to on-camera forecasting and severe weather events.

Additionally, the Chapter has sponsored trips to many locations where members can get a first-hand look at various aspects and professions of the atmospheric sciences.

If you would like more information, contact Dr. Doug Miller (Faculty Advisor) or a student officer.  All of us at the UNCA Chapter of the AMS hope that you have wonderful years at UNCA and hope to see you at our next meeting!
